FBC Releases a Statement Re: Masks for Sunday Worship Services
In light of the new state mandates from our Governor and the Leadership of North Carolina, we are putting the following measures in place for our on-campus Sunday morning worship services.
All Staff and Volunteers will be required to wear a mask when on campus.
- Staff includes all paid employees, full time or part time.
- Volunteers are anyone leading in any capacity: worship, musicians, AV, greeters, ushers, cleaners, etc.
- Anyone on the platform must social distance
- Mask are not required on the platform
- When staff or volunteers step off the platform, masks are required
First Baptist Church of Garner requests that anyone attending the service please wear a mask. Masks will be available at each entrance.
Welcome Back Home Instructions:
Ready? Set. Come on back! The FBC campus will open for worship services only. While we look forward to the day our entire church family can gather together again, our transition back to campus in the meantime will bring us back in stages. At the present, you can expect the following:
- Worship services only – no other FBC activities will be held on campus.
- Life groups will continue to meet online
- No fbcPRESCHOOL or fbcKIDS activities
Remember, we are not coming back to “normal” so we ask in advance for patience, grace and understanding.
To our church family who may be considered “high risk”, pregnant, feeling ill or if you have a preexisting condition; please continue to join us online until you feel it is the right time for you to return to campus
As we return to campus, we anticipate the following safety/sanitation measures will be taken:
- There will be two Sunday morning worship services – 9:00 and 11:00 with a limited capacity.
- No fbcPRESCHOOL or fbcKIDS activities.
- Please arrive no earlier than 20 minutes before your selected service begins.
- Members and guests will enter the worship center via two lines that will form in front of the church.
- We will enter and exit through designated doors on the St. Mary’s Street side of the worship center.
- Doors will be open, so there will be no need to touch a door handle.
- Once you have entered the building, we ask that you refrain from physical contact and maintain social distancing.
- Ushers will assist in the seating process.
- Available rows and seats will be clearly marked which have been determined in advance to maintain social distancing.
- Once the service is over, ushers will dismiss members and guest by rows.
- Please exit quickly to ensure there will be enough time to thoroughly sanitize the building between services.
- Service lengths will be 50 minutes to allow for orderly exiting and cleaning.
- Secure boxes will be located in the lobby to drop your tithes and offerings.
- FBC requests that you wear a mask while on campus and in worship. See the statement above.
- FBC Staff and Volunteers are required to wear a mask.
- All books and paper items have been removed from the worship center – there will be no paper bulletins or passing of an offering plate.
- Chairs have been professionally cleaned.
- Touchless hand sanitizer stations will be provided in the lobby.
- Registration is required for each service to make sure we do not overcrowd our building and maintain social distancing.
- If you receive a message saying your preferred service is full, please try the other service.
- Only one response per household, please.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at FBC@FBCGarner.org. We look forward to seeing you as soon!

Thank goodness the church is not confined to a building. The church is all of us and we can still be the church no matter if we’re physically together or connecting online. Hopefully you are familiar with the prompts to worship, serve, connect and give, so let’s see what that looks like in our virtual world right now.
Worship: On Wednesday, March 18, last Sunday's sermon from Ephesians 2, "But God" will be made available online at fbcgarner.org and an Facebook. Then beginning Sunday, March 22 you will be able to worship with us online via Facebook and our website every week. Remember, worship is personal and can be done anywhere, anytime. While gathering together is important, worship is a lifestyle we all participate in daily.
Serve: Right now, you are likely in one of two groups – those in need or those who can help.
- If you are in need, first we encourage you to reach out to your Life Group so that you may be the hands and feet of Jesus to each other in that small community. If you are not in a Life Group and have an immediate need, complete this form and you will be connected to someone who can help.
- If you are someone who can help, please complete this form and you will be added to a volunteer list. When a need is identified, you will be matched appropriately.
Serving is also a function of loving your neighbor. Maybe all you can do now is pray for someone, check on the elderly or send a note of encouragement. All good ways to serve!
Connect: In today’s virtual world, connecting is easier than ever. Text, call, email, FaceTime, video meeting and social media can you keep you close when distance is between you.
Give: Even in uncertain times like this, we are still called to give so the Lord’s work can carry on. Online giving is easy – you can find the prompt in the upper right corner of our church website homepage fbcgarner.org or you can link directly here: https://giving.ncsservices.org/app/giving/ncs-1856. You can also mail your contributions in if that is easier. Our address is 601 St. Mary’s Street Garner NC 27529. Thank you for your continued support to our budget, E3:20 and other ministries.
Please continue to pray for each other, our community, our nation and our world.
March 16, 2020
What you can expect until further notice…
For most of us, life as we know it has been interrupted for a while. With such a change in schedule, we understand you may have questions about which activities are happening and which are not, so here are a few things you should know.
There will be no Sunday morning services or Wednesday night activities until further notice. We will continue to follow CDC recommendations and state mandates given by the Governor as we determine how long to postpone services and when to resume.
There will be no FBC campus activities at any time until further notice. This includes kids’ activities, extracurricular activities, sports or meetings. We are limiting traffic on campus to cut down on exposure risks.
Outreach groups are still meeting. Groups such as COHM and Care Ministry are still meeting because of the vital need they serve, but on a limited basis and with modified schedules and volunteer placement to keep everyone at the lowest risk possible. If you are involved in these ministries, you will hear directly from those in charge about these modified plans.
Life Groups who meet on campus are no longer meeting on campus. Again, this is to limit campus traffic to cut down on exposure risks.
Life Groups who meet in homes have a few options. Life Group hosts should use their best judgment and at no time feel obligated to open their home if they decide the risk is too great. For those facilitators and group members who desire to meet, please feel free to do so. Remember, there are other ways to connect – FaceTime, Zoom, WebEx among others are great online platforms to use for group “meetings.” Regardless, we encourage you to stay close and pray together with your group via phone calls, texts and emails.
The church office is open M-Th 8am – 5pm. Until the need is identified, the church office will remain open, even if at a modified staff level. We will let you know if that changes. After hours, you can call the church office and talk to the Minister on Call. Call (919) 772-1772, follow the prompt and the MOC will return your call within the designated time.
Be sure to check fbcgarner.org and Facebook for updates. Your FBC staff is praying for you!
